Front Line Equine co-founders Jason Ross and Ky Gregory have been best friends since the age of two. When they graduated, they were often on different continents, but the connection never faded. They were brothers by choice. After high school they both enlisted in the military expecting to serve their country in peace time. However, the world changed on September 11, 2001.

Jason, a Navy veteran, served over five years active duty and an additional six years in the Navy reserves. As a P3-C Aircrewman Acoustic Operator his crew tracked submarines and took part in Maritime Patrol Operations. All that changed when the twin towers fell. On Thanksgiving Day 2001 Jason was flying missions over Afghanistan. He would return to the Middle East and Southeast Asia on several more deployments before he transitioned to civilian life.

For the next 18 years Jason continued to serve his community as a law enforcement officer. He was a defensive tactics instructor, firearms instructor, patrol tactics instructor, and a patrol officer. His call volume was usually between 15-25 calls a day and through the years traumatic incidents became increasingly common. The summer of 2020 was marked by widespread violence in many major cities across the United States and Seattle Washington, where Jason served, was no exception. It was a breaking point and a new beginning for Jason. He realized he could no longer live the life of a law enforcement officer and he began to focus on his mental health.

Ky grew up in the Marine Corps. He worked his way from a young private to a MSgt. He and his family served wherever the Marines asked them to serve, and they found themselves moving from the east coast to the west coast. His wife Tina, also a Marine, understood the life they chose and the sacrifice it required.

Ky deployed three times, serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom. He honed his leadership skills as the point person on many high-level projects and became the go to person for any project that required innovation. His service in war time earned him accolades and recognition. It also made him keenly aware of the sacrifices military families make. Family separations, dangerous tours of duty, and long hours were commonplace. Ky is now retired from the Marine Corps. and has settled in Burleson.

Jason and Ky are both on a recovery journey and healing from years of service to country and community. Horses are a large part of that journey.
